About MPC SDC

Our Philosophy
We, Montgomery Presbyterian Church, want to come alongside families with children to provide an educationally enriching and refreshingly fun, spiritual day camp. We are a community of faith that happens to have years of experience with serving children and youth in schools, churches, after-school programs and camps. So we want to share our training, experience, and growing facilities-including the playing fields - to better serve North Penn families and neighbors. We believe that helping children helps develop healthy families which, in turn, will build a stronger community.

Our Summer Day Camp Commitment
Providing a healthy and gracious environment where children learn, grow, and enjoy the summer is one of our top priorities. We will have mature teachers and day camp counselors who are trained, prepared, and committed to the well-being of our campers. There will be a focus on the emotional health of our campers, their spiritual life, and on creative programming.

Our Faith Commitment
We want to renew and make North Penn area a better place to live with the renewing work of Jesus and His gospel (because He is the hero of the story). To share with you our background: We are part of the Korean American Presbyterian Church (KAPC) denomination and in the Philadelphia Presbytery.

Christian Education
As a Christian church, we believe that the gospel is not just a “ticket to heaven” but also provides “wisdom for life.” So, we have Christian education at the start of each day. All of the counselors and teachers pray at the beginning of each day. They are trained for gospel-driven love and patience in order to develop healthy and helpful relationships.

Activities
We also strive for summer fun as we incorporate physical education that are creative, safe, fun, and enhance health, especially with the gymnasium and playing fields. One afternoon is dedicated to swimming. To encourage art and creativity, we have workshops two times a week to promote wide range of skill and knowledge such as arts & crafts, cool science, drawing, etc.

Field Trips
Every Friday throughout the six weeks is "Field Trip Friday." Previously, field trips have included Sky Zone, Lake Nockamixon, Round 1, Thrillz, and so much more. The last Friday of camp is the highly anticipated Carnival at MPC. (we ask campers to bring disposable  lunch bags and water bottles/juice boxes that can be thrown away)

Summers are great for swimming and outdoor activities. However, the summer months are when learning from the school year fades as students engage less in educational activities. We want children to not only maintain what they learned but also to prepare for their return to school. Hence, we provide an hour each of math and reading, four days a week. (Our curriculum is based on state and locally recommended levels). In the first few classes of Summer Day Camp, students will be evaluated. In the first weeks will reviewing what they learned the past year. In the closing week, students will be familiarized with concepts that they will study in the Fall.
